I started throwing pottery ten years ago by means of a community college class. After a lengthy break I am back at it, have my own equipment and am fulfilling my hobby at my home. With the help of my wife and two children, we do local festivals, special orders and consignments close to home.
Almost all of my work is functional pottery, dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. All designs are used in my home, some everyday. Even after years of making pottery, I still enjoy using handmade, durable dinnerware.
In addition to the pottery, my wife and I decided to make more of an effort on being environmentally conscious. Among other things, we decided to stop using plastic bags. We decided to make some reusable cloth bags for our trips to the grocery store. This has turned into the other half our our business. We use discarded fabric to make cloth bags in a variety of sizes.

Just a little something extra
Because my wife teaches Pre-Kindgarten and plays with clay almost as much as I do, we are firm believers in the benefits of children playing with natural clay. Here is a link to a website with lots of great infomation on the developmental stages of clay and what to say as you are using clay with young children.
